Our theme for February 2024 is bullying
But what do we mean when we talk about bullying?
Bullying is an aggressive and repetitive behaviour in which a person or group of people deliberately causes distress and discomfort to another person who is perceived to be weaker or vulnerable.
- Bullying is intentional - it harms another person deliberately
- Bullying involves abuse of power in a relationship
- Bullying is usually not isolated - it is repeated or has the potential to be repeated over time
- Bullying involves behaviour that can cause harm
On Thursday 22 February 2024,
my students were asked to test their knowledge of safe internet
browsing (I think most of them did very well) by answering the questions
in the "Do you know how to behave online?"
questionnaire. We then addressed the topic of bullying and
cyberbullying, the phenomenon was defined and its main characteristics
were presented (what it is, what are its main characteristics, what can
we do...).
Our proposal for safe internet rules
"Be polite and careful. Remember that your posts are public."
This was followed by a short story "Gone to far" where the children, divided into groups, were asked to "put themselves in each other's shoes" and describe the feelings and thoughts of the heroes of the story (perpetrator, victim, observers).
